If the scratch is still there then some darkened iodine can be applied on that area using a cotton swab. In case of light wood, shoe polish can be applied. Darkened iodine, 50% diluted with denatured alcohol, can also be applied to it for removing the stains. There are several stain treatments to keep the wood like new for a long time. After the cleaning is done, the wood might be need to covered and the situation might be that it is not possible to clean the all the stains. At that time we need to hide the stains by covering them the best we can.

Most types of stain removal techniques are not suitable for wood products. They might work on carpets but can ruin the wood products. So everybody should be very careful while using them.
